Shopify App Addendum to Business Terms of Service
Effective Date: August 26, 2025
Version: 1.0
Introduction
This Shopify App Addendum ("Addendum") modifies the Humanmark Business Terms of Service dated July 26, 2025 ("Business Terms") for merchants using the Humanmark Shopify App ("App"). In case of any conflict between this Addendum and the Business Terms, this Addendum controls for Shopify merchants.
All capitalized terms not defined in this Addendum have the meanings given in the Business Terms.
Modified Sections
1. Getting Started (Modifies Section "The Service - Getting Started")
For Shopify merchants, the following process replaces the standard getting started procedure:
- Install the Humanmark App directly from the Shopify App Store
- Authorize the required Shopify permissions when prompted
- Configure the App within the embedded page in Shopify Admin
- Begin verifying customers immediately
API keys are issued and managed automatically behind the scenes. Authentication is handled through Shopify OAuth. No manual integration or coding is required.
2. Integration Method (Modifies Section "Using the Service - Acceptable Use")
Instead of SDK and API integration:
- The App provides a fully managed, no-code integration with your Shopify store
- All technical implementation is handled automatically by the App
- You configure the Service through the Shopify admin interface
- No backend API calls or frontend SDK implementation is required
The requirement to "use our official SDK for all user-facing verification interfaces" is satisfied automatically by the App.
3. Pricing and Payment (Replaces Section "Pricing and Payment")
Pricing Structure
The App uses Shopify's managed subscription billing with tiers displayed in the Shopify App Store listing. A free tier is available. For needs beyond published tiers, contact sales@humanmark.io for custom pricing.
Payment Terms
- All charges are processed through Shopify's billing system
- Subscription fees appear on your regular Shopify invoice
- Billing follows Shopify's standard app subscription terms
- You can modify or cancel subscriptions through your Shopify admin
- Refunds, if any, are subject to Shopify's app billing policies
The payment terms in the Business Terms (NET 30, monthly in arrears) do not apply to Shopify merchants.
4. Data Access and Privacy (Supplements Section "Privacy and Data Protection")
Shopify Data Access
The App requires certain Shopify permissions to function. Current scopes include read access to products, orders, themes, and validations. These scopes may change as features evolve, and Shopify will prompt you to approve any new permissions.
Due to the structure of Shopify's permission system and webhook data, the App may receive incidental access to data beyond what's strictly necessary for verification. We commit that:
- Customer personal information is never used or persisted by Humanmark
- Any incidental PII that passes through our systems is immediately discarded
- We access only the minimum Shopify data necessary for verification functionality
5. Termination (Modifies Section "Term and Termination")
For Shopify merchants:
- You may cancel by uninstalling the App from your Shopify admin
- Cancellation follows Shopify's app subscription billing terms
- Upon uninstallation, access ends immediately
- No 30-day notice period is required
- The data deletion and survival provisions of the Business Terms still apply
Additional Shopify-Specific Terms
Compliance with Shopify Terms
You agree to comply with all applicable Shopify terms, including the Shopify Terms of Service, Shopify API License and Terms of Use, and any applicable Shopify App Store terms. We operate under the Shopify Partner Program Agreement.
Platform Limitations
Some features described in the Business Terms may not be available through the Shopify App due to platform constraints. Available features are those displayed in the App interface.
Support
Shopify merchants use the same support channel: support@humanmark.io
Unchanged Provisions
All other provisions of the Business Terms remain in full force and effect, including but not limited to:
- Beta Service Notice (for the underlying Humanmark platform)
- Verification Accuracy disclaimers
- Prohibited Uses
- Warranties and Disclaimers
- Limitation of Liability
- Indemnification
- Intellectual Property
- Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
Acceptance
By installing the Humanmark App from the Shopify App Store, you agree to the Business Terms as modified by this Addendum.

Privacy Notice for Shopify Merchants
Effective Date: August 26, 2025
Version: 1.0
Introduction
This Privacy Notice explains how Humanmark SPC ("Humanmark," "we," "our," or "us") processes data when you use the Humanmark Shopify App ("App"). This notice is for merchants using our App, not for end customers who undergo verification.
For information about how we handle end-user verification data, see our main Privacy Policy at humanmark.app/privacy.
Our Role in Data Processing
Independent Service Provider: Humanmark operates an independent verification service. We are generally the data controller for information processed through our service.
- Merchant Account Data: We're the data controller for your account information, usage metrics, and communications with you
- Store Configuration: We process your configuration choices stored in Shopify metafields to deliver the service
- Verification Operations: We independently operate the verification network and determine how verifications are processed
- Customer Data: We never collect or store end-customer personal data - any PII in webhooks is immediately discarded
This means we determine the purposes and means of processing for our verification service, while ensuring we never retain your customers' personal information.

We collect and store:
- Your Shopify store name and ID
- Admin email addresses for account management
- App configuration settings (primarily stored in Shopify metafields, may be cached in our systems)

Through Shopify's API, the App accesses:
- Product information (to identify protected products)
- Order data (to enforce verification requirements)
- Theme data (for integration)

Webhook Data Processing
Shopify sends us webhooks for various store events. We:
- Process webhooks immediately upon receipt
- Extract only the minimum data needed for verification
- Never store webhook payloads
- Automatically discard any customer PII contained in webhooks
Customer Data Handling
Important: While Shopify's webhooks and APIs may incidentally include customer personal information (names, emails, addresses), we:
- Never use or process this customer PII
- Never store or persist customer PII
- Immediately discard any customer PII that passes through our systems
- Only process cryptographic verification proofs that contain no personal information
